“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has”– Margaret Mead
Volunteers may carefully read…
Volunteering is so much a part of society that it is often easier to describe the difference that volunteers make by imagining a society where no-one volunteered.
As a volunteer you can really have an impact on peoples’ lives and the community around you, as well as making your own life more fulfilled and rewarding.
We receive several enquiries from local / International /corporate individuals who would want to volunteer with our Foundation. Those who seriously wish to volunteer may please go through the below mentioned contents.
We do not accept everyone who applies to volunteer with our programs. Our volunteers need to be creative, enthusiastic and resourceful self-starters.
We simply must be selective due to the nature of our work-a work with the most vulnerable section, Rural People, Under Privileged and/or Deprived Children, Senior Citizens, etc.
What is volunteering?
Volunteering describes what people choose to do in their spare time, without pay, that benefits other people or contributes to the services or amenities within the community.
Volunteering is an important expression of citizenship and an essential component of social equality and democracy. It is the commitment of time and energy for the benefit of society and the community and can take many forms. It is undertaken freely and by choice, without concern for financial gain.
The word volunteering is used for a range of activities such as community service, self-help, charity, neighbourliness, citizenship, public service, community action, community involvement, trustee, member, helper.
To some people it is an act of kindness, to others it is a means of achieving a personal goal or putting something back into society. It is also a way of gaining new skills and improving job prospects.
Volunteers come from all walks of life and are active in almost every aspect of society that you can think of – from visiting elderly people, to sitting on a magistrates’ bench, to governing local schools, to performing in a local play or coaching young athletes.
What can I do as a volunteer?
What you do as a volunteer depends very much on what you would like to achieve.
If you volunteer, you have the chance to meet new people, to learn new skills, to develop new interests, and to be part of the community. Everyone has a personal reason for volunteering – emotional satisfaction, or to develop new skills. You should choose something that will help you fulfill your personal goal.
There are literally hundreds of ways in which you can get involved – all you need is a little time and energy. In return you will be rewarded with a sense of personal achievement and satisfaction.
How much time I can spare for volunteering?
Minimum 6 hours a week.
|Who are not eligible to volunteer|
